Arequipean chicha is a traditional beverage of Peru, enjoyed during festivities.
It is usually consumed during celebrations and family gatherings. It is believed to have roots in pre-Hispanic times, where it was prepared with fermented corn.

Chicha Arequipera
Ingredients
4 liters of Water
500 grams of Jora
6 Cloves
Sugarcane chancada or sugar
Preparation
Step 1 : Jora is placed in a container with water for a full day.
Step 2 : The next day, water with cloves and the previously crushed Jora are put into a pot.
Step 3 : Bring to a boil until the water reduces to less than half.
Step 4 : Once ready, add the sugar and strain the mixture.
Step 5 : Let ferment for several days before enjoying the final result.
